“RIPEN” is a short dramatic film about Jason, a Vietnamese Canadian who finds out he has to work an extra shift on the night of his young daughter’s birthday, inevitably forcing him to bring Anh to work. Upset with her father’s recurring false promises, Anh decides to teach him a lesson.

About the Director:

Yohannes is a writer and director from Toronto who has worked on a variety of film and television productions. She has been an editor for Sisterhood Media’s “Somewhere In” and “Kaleidoscope Stories”, is part of the Black Women Film! alumni, has previously directed the documentary “Age is More” and is currently in pre-production for her next short film.

Christopher Vo is a filmmaker from Toronto. Currently studying Media Production at Ryerson University, he wants to explore filmmaking as it relates to Asian representation on screen. He takes great inspiration from Bong Joon Ho, one of his favourite directors in cinema today.
